Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) first gained its fame in the orthopaedic sphere before it crossed over to the hair restoration sector. Having manifested itself as a reliable hair loss treatment, PRP is currently one of the most hair restoration treatments in India.

PRP is a minimally invasive treatment, pain-free and generally suitable for both males and females.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) & What Can I Expect From It?

PRP is a simple treatment but involves an array of scientific protocols that a hair specialist or a hair transplant surgeon must follow for optimum results. The treatment generally requires a doctor to extract a given amount of blood from the patient. Generally, the blood is comprised of white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets among other components.

The platelet cells, in this case, are targeted since they possess healing properties, what we can term as growth properties. To obtain the platelet liquid, the blood must be centrifuged, a process termed as centrifugation. The machine will spin the blood at a given speed and this is done 3 times to obtain a rich concentration of platelets.

Having obtained the platelet concentration, the liquid is injected into the recipient region (scalp). The treatment generally requires a minimum of 4 treatment rounds or more depending on the hair loss level.

PRP is effective in restoring hair, most especially in patients with moderate hair loss.

How Much Will PRP Cost Me?

There are various factors that determine the cost of PRP Therapy in India and they include;

  • The number of treatment rounds required
  • The level of hair loss
  • The selected hair restoration centre
  • PRP with a surgery or not?

Cost of PRP Therapy Alone

The cost of PRP therapy in India ranges from Rs. 4, 000 to Rs. 15, 000 per session. The degree of hair loss (alopecia) will determine the number of sessions you require.

Cost of PRP Therapy With a Hair Transplant

Normally, excessive hair loss can’t be combated with PRP alone and with that, a hair transplant is recommended. However, to boost the natural results, PRP is administered after a hair transplant. The cost of a combined treatment (PRP & Hair Transplantation) would range from Rs. 70, 000 to Rs. 95, 000.
